In-office Whitening Treatment
Unlike home use systems that incorporate low-dose bleaching agents, in-office whitening takes place under conditions that allow for a high-concentration of bleaching gel. This provides results that are visible immediately. It is also the safest form of bleaching. Dr. Polly Reese may recommend chairside whitening to remove stains and discoloration that are caused by aging, the consumption of certain foods, or tobacco use. Stains that are caused by trauma, overexposure to fluoride, tetracycline antibiotics, and other inorganic issues do not respond will to in-office whitening. The Zoom! Whitening Process
In-office whitening processes involve the use of a bleaching gel, typically a hydrogen peroxide concentration, which is applied to the teeth for an extended period. With Zoom! the big difference is a special LED light that activates the hydrogen peroxide and allows it to penetrate the tooth enamel and whiten your teeth. The process begins with a quick exam by Dr. Polly Reese to ensure your teeth are healthy enough for whitening. If you have not had a cleaning recently, you made need one before we proceed.
The Zoom! whitening procedure begins by protecting your gums and soft tissue. Dr. Polly Reese will put in cheek retractors and place a protective layer on your gums. The Zoom! whitening gel is powerful, making protection a crucial step.
Once you are properly protected, Dr. Polly Reese will put a layer of the Zoom! whitening gel onto the surface of your teeth. Next, the LED light will be set towards your teeth for about 15 minutes. You will need to wear protective eyewear during this time. A full Zoom! treatment consists of four, 15-minute sessions. After each session, we may add more whitening gel or adjust the light depending on your progress. The entire process from the time you enter our office, to the time you leave takes about 90 minutes. The actual whitening process is about an hour.
While there is no guarantee of a particular result, most Winning Smile Dental Group patients experience a change of 5 or more shades in just one visit! That is a huge difference! Unfortunately, teeth whitening is an ongoing process. If you would like to maintain a white, bright smile, we recommend continuing treatment at home. Advantages of Zoom! Whitening
The Zoom! whitening system is one of the most effective of all the whitening treatments. In addition to its effectiveness, the Zoom! system is also extremely safe. Other treatments may cause permanent damage to the enamel and make cavities and infections more likely.
